Holding Darkness and Light Continued

We look forward to seeing you as we come together for Wild Earth Spiritual Community this Sunday, Dec. 20 at 2:45 pm at Carderock Recreation Area. We continue reflecting on the value of light and darkness for both our physical world and our inner being, and we’ll look to nature for lessons from the dark.

We are meeting at Carderock Recreation Area, a public park located in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park. Please follow the directions below in order to find us. It’s a big park. We’ve found a nook that should be quiet and peaceful where we can follow all current federal, regional and local COVID-19 guidelines. We will require masks and strict social distancing while gathering as a group. During individual wandering, masks may be removed when distancing is possible.

LOGISTICS/DETAILS:

Gathering Times

2:40 PM - Drum circle. Please bring a drum or percussion instrument if you would like to join in.

3:00 PM - Wild Earth Spiritual Community begins. You may want to consider arriving 10 minutes early to give yourself ample time to park and walk to the site.

What to bring

• Facemask
• Weather appropriate clothing
• Sturdy shoes
• Folding or camp chair or blanket to sit on
• Water and snacks
• Bug repellent
• Drum or percussion instrument

Location - Carderock Recreation Area (North Parking Lot)

Please note that GPS may not be accurate. Please carefully read directions at the bottom of this email so you know where to find us in Carderock. The park is large and there are several parking lots.

Look for “Wild Earth Spiritual Community” signs. When you enter the park, turn right at the T junction and drive to the very end of the road, past two parking lots. Park in the very last parking lot. Follow the path next to the restrooms and turn left at the sign directing you into the woods. Yellow streamers through the woods will direct you to our exact location. For those who have joined us in the past, we will be at the same site as we have gathered previously.

Restrooms – Restrooms are available at this site.

Terrain – We will have a very short walk along a dirt path to the gathering site which is mostly flat and even. If you are concerned, please bring a walking stick.

Filming and Photos – We would like to take photos of the program to post untagged on our website and Facebook page. Please let us know if you would rather not be photographed. Otherwise, we will assume photographs are okay.

Latecomers – If you don’t see us in the parking area, please follow signs for "Wild Earth Spiritual Community" to our gathering site.

Contributions – We will be collecting donations to support our work in organizing these free, monthly Wild Earth Spiritual Community gatherings. We are so grateful for your contributions and for making it possible for us to continue offering opportunities for deepening one's spirituality in nature.
