About the Event

Let’s gather in a circle this coming Sunday, August 6th for reflection, song and a wander on the theme of  “Everyday Holiness.” Hank is our facilitator, offering his perspective on a journey from belief in the transcendent "eventful" "sky god” that he inherited (along with 90% of Euro-americans) toward a more earthly, immanent, every day holiness/divinity. Alicia is our back-up/co-facilitator.

UPCOMING WILD EARTH GATHERINGS

Sunday August 6th 3:00 (2:45 drumming?) with Hank facilitating. Alicia back-up/co-facilitator. THEME: “Everyday Holiness.” Carderock.

Sunday August 20th 3:00 (2:45 drumming?) with Janet facilitating. Carderock. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN DATE! Janet will lead us in a celebration of Lughnasadh (or Lughnasa). This ancient Celtic tradition welcomes the first harvest and is symbolic of rootedness and belonging.

Sunday, Sept. 3rd 3:00 (2:45 drumming) Carderock. Sarah facilitating. Yes, we WILL gather Labor Day weekend. Typically attendance is low on a holiday weekend but because we're having a special gathering on Sept. 10th, and because many are attending a silent retreat on the 17th, we will not gather on our usual third Sunday, the 17th. It is unusual to have two gatherings in a row but that’s what works this month.

Sunday Sept 10th 3:00 Carderock Special Gathering: “SONGTUARY” led by Cleo Keller and Craig Green. Carderock.

Songtuary is an intercultural singing gathering. The founders of Songtuary are traveling from Charlottesville to delight us in the resonance of vocal energy, expressing and connecting through singing together. Most songs are taught by ear, without sheet music or paper. Participants are encouraged to sing and listen in equal measure. Our repertoire is a mix of rounds, chants, anthems and layered songs. No prior singing experience is required. We offer a space to build community at a more fundamental level, with the freedom of experiencing deeply what it's like to be alive: to honor grief, joy, the seasons and cycles of life and the gift of community.
