About the Event
We gather this Sunday, June 19th, at Carderock to take in the fullness of the sun-drenched summer season and continue our June theme on Cultivating Peace. Together we notice what is emerging in the fields and forests and express our gratitude for those who do the heavy lifting tending our farms and agriculture. If you feel inclined, you’re invited to share what the term “peace” means to you, and we’ll continue sharing where and how we find it.
Although many may be attending Father’s Day celebrations, we still gather, even if a small group, to still ourselves and connect with the sacred.
At this mid-month gathering you are welcome to bring a reading, song, poem or movement related to either summer or peace.
Thanks for registering!
Here’s Janet’s summer solstice gathering happening on Saturday night:
What: Summer Solstice ritual, led by Janet When: Saturday, June 18, 7 pm Where: Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton, VA COVID protocol: while outside, masks are optional; if going inside the building then we ask that folks wear a mask. The Summer Solstice, also known in the Pagan world as Litha or Midsummer, is a time to celebrate the Sun’s energy. Solstice literally means "sun stand still" for at the solstices the sun seems to stop on its course before it reverses itself. Join us in celebration of the sun’s power at its zenith. We will harness this magickal energy to use in manifesting the intentions we set earlier in the year and in preparation as we head towards the later half of the year as the days begin to shorten. Bring an object for the altar that you would like to use to collect energy (no worries if you forget to bring something, I will have ribbon that folks can use). Please gather in the amphitheater just before you get to the Memorial Grove; we will process together into the Grove. In the event it's raining too hard, we will have the ritual in the Chapel.
