About the Event
Wild Ones, “Gettin’ right with God” or “Realigning with What really matters” A song from Lucinda Williams, “Get Right with God,” is reminiscent to this former Southern Baptist of a hot night under a crowded tent. A worked-up evangelist reminds a sweating crowd, busily cooling themselves with cardboard fans, that we have gone ASTRAY and IT IS TIME to GET RIGHT WITH GOD. It’s revival time. What this phrase (and the words themselves) meant to me years ago and what they mean to me now are different. The essence remains the same. The work of my mini-sabbatical this August - realigning with what really matters – is what I might call “gettin’ right with God” now. Of course, it’s a constant realignment, but it is needed more at some times than at others. Resting in Great Spirit – re-collecting stillness and Presence, helps us navigate this high-strung world while keeping one foot in other realms. Are there signs that flash or creep into your life that nudge you to “realign” or “with the Great Spirit? What are these signs? Does it take awhile for you to take these signs seriously or do you know right away that you’ve gone off track and need to reconnect? How do you heed that call to realign or get right? What helps? If you have a story of a “return to what really matters” let Sarah know. Perhaps you might share it this coming Sunday. We will also honor the Fall Equinox and the coming darkness with a note from Marney and a song from Heidi. Amy will again teach us the beautiful chant, Goldenrod. (We’re ‘gettin’ it!) Turkey Run, not Carderock, 3:00 Sunday. Sarah
